Deputy Prime Minister's Africa visit
Nick
Clegg is visiting sub-Saharan Africa on a trip to Ethiopia and
Mozambique. The visits are part of the UK’s engagement with Africa to
focus on the objectives for the UK's G8 presidency this year: tax, trade
and transparency and to support the UK's Girls Education Challenge.
Women are the key to economic growth and investing in girls’ education
is the single most effective thing we can do to break the cycle of
poverty, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said on a visit to Mozambique
and Ethiopia this week. Today he launched the first project from the
Department for International Development’s pioneering Girls’ Education
Challenge Fund, the largest, most ambitious project of its kind in the
world.
